Set up project approvals

Add project approvers | Set project approvals

Updated this week

If you have an approval process based on projects in your business, you can add project approvers and set project approvals so the expenses associated with that project are approved by the appropriate user.

To set project approvals, there are two steps required: adding project approvers, then setting the project approval.

Add Project Approvers

Select the Settings tab in the left side panel. Then, select the Manage projects page within the Business drop-down.

Select one of your existing projects or add a new project. View the Add, enable and disable projects help article to learn how to add a project.

In the Edit project pop-up, select the project approver from the list of employees in the drop-down of the Project approver field.

Select the Update project button to save the project approver you’ve assigned.

For the expenses to be assigned to the project approvers for review, you'll need to set the project approval next.

Set project approval

In the settings, select the Set project approvals page within the Business drop-down.

Select the Add project approvals button to ensure the project approver you’ve set is assigned project expenses for review.

First, select the project from the drop-down.

Note: Only projects with assigned project approvers will be in the drop-down.

Next, decide whether you’d like project expenses to require approval from the employee’s usual approver in addition to the project approver. Switch the Require employee approval toggle on or off.

Select the Save button to finish setting the project approval.

Expense reports containing expenses associated with the project will adhere to the project approval you set.
